What Happened to AMSOIL Ea Air Filters?
AMSOIL’s Ea air filters used dry, cleanable synthetic nanofiber media and were popular with DIY owners who wanted one filter to last for years. AMSOIL announced the car and truck Ea air filter line (EAA) as discontinued in June 2014, sold remaining stock while supplies lasted, and the motorcycle (EaAM) and universal air-induction (EaAU) versions are no longer made either.
AMSOIL cited three reasons: newer vehicles need so many unique filter shapes that a stocking program became impractical, more owners now have oil and filters changed at service centers, and it could not compete on price with low-cost filters sold through those shops.
Still running an Ea filter? It can keep working as long as the media and seal are intact. Clean it the way it was designed: dry, never oiled. Once it is damaged or the seal hardens, replace it with one of the filters below.

For a daily driver, WIX or MANN-FILTER at the factory interval is the simple choice. For a diesel pickup, the PowerCore filters are the upgrade worth looking at: Donaldson rates them for lower initial restriction and more dirt-holding capacity than standard filters, so they last longer between changes.

Only the Ea air filters were discontinued. AMSOIL still makes Ea Oil Filters for cars and light trucks, which are built for extended drain intervals and pair with AMSOIL synthetic motor oil. If you searched for an Ea filter and your vehicle lookup shows one, check whether it is the oil filter.
